Rabiot to demand €10million per year

Adrien Rabiot s current deal with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire next summer, and it seems highly unlikely the midfielder will be signing a new one. He will therefore be free to talk to clubs around Europe from January 2019, and Mundo Deportivo claim he will demand a salary of €10million per year, which amounts to just over €192,000 per week.

Barring a half-season loan to Toulouse, Rabiot has spent his entire career at PSG so far, having been promoted to the first team in 2012 by Carlo Ancelotti. He had made 208 appearances in all competitions for the French champions prior to the start of this season, scoring 22 goals in the process.

At the age of 23, he is already a complete and highly versatile midfield player who will have no shortage of potential suitors …

Jesus welcomes Aguero competition on trophy charge for Manchester City

Gabriel Jesus hopes competition between himself and Sergio Aguero can drive Manchester City towards success this season.

Pep Guardiola s side open their Premier League campaign at newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, where they will aim to bounce back from a trophyless 2016-17.

Jesus arrival from Palmeiras in January threatened to spark a title charge for City as the Brazil striker netted three times in his first two Premier League starts.

The 20-year-old s instant impression left Aguero – largely unchallenged as the club s premier forward since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011 – on the bench, although Jesus suffering a broken metatarsal against Bournemouth in February earned him a reprieve.

Colombia v Ecuador: La Tri crave Copa repeat of crushing qualifying success

Ecuador will be keen for a repeat of their sensational World Cup qualifying win over Colombia as they look to finally beat a South American rival at the Copa America.

La Tri remarkably won 6-1 in Quito in November, the last of three consecutive victories in an encouraging start to Qatar 2022 qualifying following an opening defeat to Argentina.

Led by Gustavo Alfaro, appointed three months prior to that match, Ecuador have waited a long time for a comparable result at the Copa America.

They have not beaten a CONMEBOL opponent at the tournament since 2001, their 4-0 defeat of Venezuela followed by a 13-game winless run in such matches.

Ecuador s only wins in the intervening period were against CONCACAF pair Mexico and Haiti.

Morata injury not too serious, claims Chelsea boss Sarri

Maurizio Sarri has allayed fears over the knee injury Alvaro Morata sustained in Chelsea s 2-2 Europa League draw with Vidi.

Morata was forced off in first-half stoppage time at the Groupama Arena, having gone down innocuously clutching his left knee.

Olivier Giroud replaced the stricken forward, and ultimately clinched a share of the spoils for Chelsea when he curled in a 75th-minute free-kick after Ethan Ampadu s own goal and a Loic Nego strike had cancelled out Willian s opener.

But Sarri was quick to play down the seriousness of Morata s injury, although he confirmed Chelsea will not know the full extent of the damage until Friday.

No, the first impression of the doctor is that it isn t too bad, not serious, Sarri told a news conference.

Southgate hails ´fabulous´ Saka after standout showing in England win

Gareth Southgate lauded Bukayo Saka for earning his England chance and grabbing it in Tuesday s Euro 2020 win over the Czech Republic.

Raheem Sterling s 12th-minute goal was enough for the Three Lions to earn top spot in Group D and secure a home last-16 tie at Wembley, even though France, Portugal and Germany comprise a daunting list of potential opponents.

Mason Mount being forced to self-isolate meant Southgate was able to satisfy a national clamour to start Jack Grealish.

The Aston Villa playmaker supplied the cross for Sterling to head his and England s second goal of the tournament and provide flashes of skill to bring the Wembley crowd to their feet.

But it was Arsenal teenager Saka – a surprise inclusion ahead of the likes of Jadon Sancho and M…

Sevilla 2 Leganes 0 (3-1 agg): Correa & Vazquez send Montella´s men into final

Joaquin Correa and Franco Vazquez were on target as Sevilla beat Leganes 3-1 on aggregate to earn a place in the final of the Copa del Rey.

The tie was all square after the semi-final first leg in Madrid but Vincenzo Montella s men dominated Wednesday s return fixture, winning 2-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Correa s goal in the 15th minute was key, with Leganes who stunningly knocked out Real Madrid in the quarter-finals unable to muster much of a response, as Sevilla s progression always looked likely.

Sevilla had two further opportunities cleared off the line, with Luis Muriel excellent in attack, but those missed opportunities did not hurt them and, after Vazquez scored a late second, they can look forward to facing either Barcelona or Valencia on April 21…

Real Madrid miss chance to go top after being held by Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid failed to return to the top of LaLiga after being held to a goalless draw by city rivals Rayo Vallecano.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side need to take all three points to edge ahead of Girona on goal difference, but could not break down their stubborn opponents despite dominating possession at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Vinicius Jr did have the ball in the net midway through the second half, only for his effort to be ruled out due to Joselu being offside in the build-up.

Olsen backs Solskjaer after bringing ´enjoyable football´ back to United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can restore Manchester United to their glory days after bringing attacking and enjoyable football back to Old Trafford, says Jesper Olsen.

Following a successful caretaker period after December s sacking of Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer signed a three-year deal to become United s permanent manager last month.

United – who are sixth and fighting to qualify for next season s Champions League – have not conquered England s top flight since 2012-13, sacking David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Mourinho in their pursuit of glory.

When asked if club favourite Solskjaer can lead United back to the summit of English football, former Red Devils winger Olsen told Omnisport: It s the million-dollar question isn t it?

Like a boss.
