Valencia coach Miroslav Djukic has admitted the club are preparing for the possibility of Tottenham target Roberto Soldado leaving.
The Spain international s future has been the subject of intense speculation of late, with Andre Villas-Boas recent declaration of interest allied to suggestions that Liverpool could also make a late swoop.
And, despite Djukic initally insisting that he did not believe Soldado would leave, the Serbian coach has now confirmed that the Mestalla outfit are considering contingency measures.
The possibility that he will leave is real, he told local sports daily Super Deporte. Soldado is our striker and if he stays then he will be the reference point up front.
Valencia are working on various options in case Salgado does leave, but we have too (few) forwards, either with Soldado or especially without him.
We have to remember though that Valencia the club is greater than any player.
Spurs and Liverpool will be unable to secure the services of the 28-year-old cheaply though, with Valencia insisting a release clause of €30milion (£25.8m) would need to be met.
Soldado has scored 81 goals in 141 appearances for Valencia since his arrival from Getafe in 2010.
